Walking home Part I

The day started with us taking a walk down the beach.

It was low tide and the beach was long and expansive.  The beach is bordered on both ends by rock cliffs.  Gail and I are guessing the length of the beach is about three miles.
We exited the beach and walked a block to the man street.  There are flowers everywhere.  This is just a very small sample.
We found many familiar places from the last time we were here-two years ago.  But many things have changed as well.   We found Mary's Diner.
The exchange rate here is about 530 colones to $1.  So the hamburger and fries advertised here for 1000 colones is approximately $2.
Another familiar restaurant we went by has their seats hanging from ropes.
Right across the street is a large hardware store.

We went inside to get some WD40 for our bicycles.

Oh yes, I haven't told you about our bicycles yet.  (I put something on Facebook but forgot to put something here.)

This is Gail with her new bicycle (mine is in the background). As you can see, it is really "up town"--the seat and the chain guard match and are complimented by the color of the wheels. We use these to get around and do our grocery shopping. The little baskets are essential. These are both brand new bicycles. I spray them with WD40 a couple times a week so they don't rust in the salty air. We ALWAYS lock them to a bike stand or a tree or whatever is handy. Financially how we do this is that we paid $160 each for the bicycles from a small bicycle shop. The guy has agreed to buy them back from us for $75 each when we leave. That means we basically rent the bicycles for two months for $85 each.
